I’m curious. What do people actually get up to on their days off? Well, maybe the most obvious isn’t booking a hotel down London just so you could get some nice snaps for the ‘gram’ and the blog, to then find that the weather isn’t actually worthy enough for what you originally had planned. So instead you shack up in your little hotel room and make use of the space. Why? Because you’re dedicated and ya know, the show must go on! Anyone else? No? Didn’t think so! Anyway, here are my top tips on How To Style Your Dresses This Autumn, while still remaining very much wrapped up. You know, the best of both worlds!

Goodbye sunshine! Although many of you are probably tilting your heads right about now in disgust, I for one am happy to see the sudden weather change. And not just me, my garden is too! Yes, our sandals have now been swapped for practical boots and our lovely apparel of skirts and dresses are now being changed for thicker, colourful weather-worthy knits and woolies.

Though having said that it doesn’t have to be bland or boring! You can still wear those beautiful dresses that you’ve been twirling and swishing in all summer, but maybe just make a few small changes so that when you first encounter the fresh, more cooler breeze so that your knees don’t buckle as soon as you step outside the front door!

The dress I will be sharing with you today is from Boohoo, and is the Cap Sleeve Shirred Waist Floral Maxi Dress, which (as you can see) is this beautiful floral designed maxi length dress, from the front we can see an almost plunge neckline, whilst having a very comfy and flattering shirred waistband. Perfect for tucking in those naughty no-nos and wearing to any event or occasion!

Now let me introduce you to a few of my top tips!

Jackets

When battling the harsh forces of nature there one thing that is ABSOLUTELY essential (and the most obvious). You’ve guessed it, a jacket. Now, this is the part where you can be completely adventurous with your wardrobe as there are not many jackets that won’t match a lovely dress. As you can see here, I paired this with my lovely floral embroidered denim jacket. These are an absolute staple in everyone’s wardrobes as they are completely universal and can easily help with the transition of a summer dress into a now autumn one.

Boots

Boots and cats, and boots and cats – No we’re not Siri, but he does have a point! Boots are a ladies prerogative and something that you’ll notice a lot more in the crowds now that we’ve approached the autumnal season. Again, you’re wearing a dress so you want to retain your womanly feels, so we need to find a happy medium if we want to dress more weather appropriate whilst still looking like a babe. For this, I believe there is nothing more suitable than a pair of Court-heeled boots. They have all the beauty of a heel, with the stability of a wedge giving you the style, the height, and the thermal properties. So you can ensure your toes will always be cosy this season!

Pumps

However, if you prefer a more daytime, wearable-look or you simply favour your comforts over your heights, then I would highly recommend a lovely pair of casual pumps. These are incredible, as you can still look very well dressed whilst having all the luxury feels of your favourite pair of slippers. And people will be none the wiser. Genius!

And last but not least…

Scarves

Spring, summer, autumn or winter! Any time and any day, these are completely wearable whatever the time and the ocassion. There’s a wide variety of designs to choose from, so you can always find a perfect match for your autumn wardrobe. I love the versatility, as you can easily mix and match it up. Right from the very thickest, wooliest-type scarves to the more easily wearable, flattering thin, evening-type neckerchiefs. The choice is yours!

There you have it, my tips and tricks on how to easily transition your summer wardrobe into an autumnal one!
However, I’m sure there are lots more tips out there so please let me know as I’m always curious on how you like to style your seasonal essentials.

Aww’r thanks Bexa! I just love experimenting with different textures and styles, and it’s lovely to make an outfit multifaceted.
Not to mention totally inexpensive too, which means it’s a definite winner for me (and my bank balance)! xx

Such cute ideas! I love wearing dresses. And I wear them pretty much every day in the summer. I’m always sad when the weather starts to get colder and I have to put my dresses away. I’m definitely going to try and wear them for as long as possible before the cold weather makes it so it’s just too chilly! Thank you for all the ideas. I should be wearing my dresses much longer now 😉
