3 Tips For Making Everyday Life More Interesting

Man Standing at the top of the world
When all is said and done, everyone wants their lives to be interesting, fun, and memorable – but for too many of us, our everyday routines set in and distract us from the wonders of the world at large, and the dreams we once had and cherished.

Everyone gets caught up in their work from time to time, and settles into a comfortable and familiar routine. But it’s definitely worth the effort of shaking up that routine on a regular basis, to keep life fascinating.

Here are just a few tips for making the everyday more interesting.

Think of ways to add a touch of personal character to things, when you can

There are, more or less, a couple of categories of bestselling consumer products and services out there today that almost everyone owns (or is signed up to).

Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself – but it definitely doesn’t help to make life any more interesting, or any more unique.

One simple but potentially effective way of making your everyday life a bit more interesting, is to always be thinking of ways to add a touch of personal character to your interactions with the world around you – including your belongings.

That could be something as straightforward as customising your phone with Ariana Grande Merch, if that’s the kind of thing you’re into. But you could get more personal, too, and work on creating some of your own art and furniture from scratch.

Try to look for the “story” in each day

If you just treat every day as a more-or-less random and meaningless thing that you have to get through, then it’s no surprise that you will generally not encounter many things that feel very interesting or special.

Although it’s easy to take each day for granted, one of the best things you can do is to try really hard to look for the “story” in each day. Imagine that you are the lead character in a heroic novel; as well as the author of that novel, to a significant degree.

What is the “lesson” you could take from each day? What’s the “pattern” and the “moral of the story?”

The more you can reflect on this way and meaningfully answer these questions, the more you will get used to seeing how every day is rich with purpose and excitement to some extent.

Make time for a bit of “silence” each day

Sometimes, what makes a day feel special is those little moments where you get to pause and experience something mindfully, that you would have otherwise completely overlooked.

It’s not uncommon, these days, for us all to be totally rushed off our feet and distracted 24/7. But, if you are always on the go, and are never taking a moment to reflect or look around you, then you’re going to miss a lot of what’s really interesting and impressive in any given moment.

Make time for a bit of “silence” each day, where it’s just you, your thoughts, and maybe a notepad and pen.
